Bootcut Balaraju Movie Review: Tests Your Patience
Film opportunities have been coming Sohel Ryan’s way since his “Bigg Boss” show catapulted him to stardom. ‘Bootcut Balraju,’ his most recent feature, premiered tonight.
The youths of Balaraju’s (Sohel) gang are careless. Their lives are devoid of purpose. Additionally, Balaraju does poorly in school. But now Balraju is in a position where he must become a responsible man if he wants to gain Mahalakshmi’s (Meghalekha) love.
When it comes time to elect a Sarpanch, Balraju chooses to run against Indravathi Patel (Indraja).
Despite being known as a do-nothing guy, is Balaraju still a contender for the election?
When performing as an artist, Sohel is at his most natural when playing characters who are carefree men. Here is where he does it exclusively. He is a badly crafted character.
Even though Indraja is excellent in the role of Indravathi, he serves no purpose in this film. Meghalekha does a good job as the heroine and daughter of Patelamma. The other decent female lead is Siri Hanumanthu.
A lot of actors, Sunil included, make cameo appearances in dull comedy roles.
Technical: There isn’t much to brag about in the picture other than its ordinary technical output. Compared to the other technical output, Bheem’s songs are superior. Shyam K Naidu’s photography is adequately good as well.
Analysis: The protagonist of the cliched country comedy “Bootcut Balaraju” is hell-bent on winning the girl he loves. Allari Naresh’s comedic flicks from a decade ago often included such plots. What sets Sohel’s film apart is its focus on the Jabardasth gang’s humorous routines and its setting in modern-day Telangana.
When the hero runs for Sarpanch, he or she receives the “bootcut” insignia. Therefore, the name. “Seema sastri” and “Blade Babji” were two of Allari Naresh’s films with comparable titles. Put another way, “Bootcut Balaraju” isn’t very original.
The film’s first half is largely devoted to the hero’s carefree attitude, his friendships, campus humor, village disputes, and song-and-dance numbers. And of course, there’s the classic love scene.
After that, the story jumps back to Balaraju’s main problem and dives into the long episode of the village elections.
The director’s intention to make Sohel seem like a popular, young hero is clear from the very beginning. Attempting to cater to a wide demographic, the film features overused clichés. The hero’s characterization falls flat. Excessively dramatic sequences at the end only serve to heighten the sense of monotony.
Mukku Avinash, Sunil, and Saddaam have all tried to make people laugh. The rest of the film, nevertheless, follows a formula that everybody can see coming and is therefore painful to watch.
