Gam Gam Ganesha Review: Funny But Predictable
Following the smash hit “Baby,” Anand Deverakonda’s next film was the criminal comedy Gam Gam Ganesha. In Hyderabad, there are two small-time criminals named Ganesh (Anand Deverakonda) and Emmanuel. Ganesh accepts to steal a diamond in his quest to get rich after his sweetheart left him for a wealthy man.
A Mumbai businessman helps Nandyal, Andhra Pradesh, politician Kishore Reddy raise Rs 100 crore for his next election. To evade police scrutiny, Kishore Reddy plans to smuggle a Ganesh idol from Mumbai, and the idol conceals lakhs of cash. The remaining plot points centre on Ganesh’s interactions with the Ganesh idol and Kishore Reddy’s gang.
Although Anand Deverakonda is known for his roles as the “boy next door,” he portrays a small-time criminal and even does some stand-up comedy in this film. He does a good job here.
As Anand’s sidekick, Emmanuel truly excels. Vennela Kishore, in his role as Organ David, provides comic relief in the second act.
Pragati Srivastava, who is famous for Pedda Kapu, appears stunning. Perfect casting for Raju Arjun’s Kishore Reddy role.
Both the songs by Chaitan Bhardwaj and the score by him are really unremarkable. The cinematography by Aditya Javvadi is simple, yet the production values are adequate.
Analysis
Unoriginal and incredibly obvious is the fundamental narrative structure of “Gam Gam Ganesha,” which has multiple subplots that converge on a heist. Numerous films in the Telugu, Hindi, and Tamil cinema industries have made heavy use of this style. These flicks only succeed if they have plenty of funny moments.
A handful of the jokes in “Gam Gam Ganesha” are actually humorous. Things get even more chaotic in the rest of the movie. Nothing seems to be moving forward in either half of the picture; instead, everything seems to be repeating itself.
No one can help but giggle at Anand and Emmanuel’s antics. Also, Anand’s tattoo is a source of hilarious comedic timing. There are also some out-there moments, such when Vennela Kishore plays an organ doctor. There aren’t many funny parts in this crime thriller that runs for over two hours, except for the ones already stated.
The director could have used more comedy scripts if he had hired better writers. Anand Deverakonda and Pragati’s love story feels forced.
All things considered, “Gam Gam Ganesha” gives off an air of antiquity. Even though it’s cliched, the narration and comedy still manage to make people chuckle. Screenplay and narrative are humorous, albeit in a ridiculous way. There are some entertaining parts, but they aren’t enough to make the picture worthwhile.
